Objectives of the Friends

The founding Constitution of the Friends

The Constitution of the Friends sets the following aims and objects of the Society:

  1. To encourage the preservation of Richmond Park for the enjoyment of the public for air and exercise, leisure and recreation
  2. To maintain the rights of access to the Park for pedestrians, equestrians, motorists and cyclists, and all others who wish to use it for the purposes set out above
  3. To encourage the preservation of the peace and natural beauties of the Park and the protection of trees, plant, bird and animal life
  4. To resist measures inimical to the foregoing and, in particular, to resist the gradual urbanisation of the Park caused by encroachments of through motor traffic
  5. To keep the roads of the Park out of the highway system
  6. To secure the reversal of the decision to increase the speed limit in the Park to 30mph
  7. To ensure the Park is not open to through motor traffic after sunset
  8. To encourage greater awareness of the public of the amenities of the Park and the need to respect them
  9. To co-operate with other bodies having similar or sympathetic aims and generally to do all such acts as shall further the foregoing aims and objects

The Society shall be non-profit making.
