
Objectives of the Friends
The founding Constitution of the Friends
The Constitution of the Friends sets the following aims and objects of the Society:
- To encourage the preservation of Richmond Park for the enjoyment of the public for air and exercise, leisure and recreation
- To maintain the rights of access to the Park for pedestrians, equestrians, motorists and cyclists, and all others who wish to use it for the purposes set out above
- To encourage the preservation of the peace and natural beauties of the Park and the protection of trees, plant, bird and animal life
- To resist measures inimical to the foregoing and, in particular, to resist the gradual urbanisation of the Park caused by encroachments of through motor traffic
- To keep the roads of the Park out of the highway system
- To secure the reversal of the decision to increase the speed limit in the Park to 30mph
- To ensure the Park is not open to through motor traffic after sunset
- To encourage greater awareness of the public of the amenities of the Park and the need to respect them
- To co-operate with other bodies having similar or sympathetic aims and generally to do all such acts as shall further the foregoing aims and objects
The Society shall be non-profit making.
