Fungi Talk 17 Nov

Janet Bostock will give a talk on fungi at Pembroke Lodge Saturday 17 November, starting at 10.15am.

Usually out of sight and out of mind, fungi underpin life. Did you know that your wine, medicines, plants, animals and much more depend on fungi?

Mostly in autumn when it is wet and cool we can see fruiting fungi in all their exotic shapes and colours on logs, trees and in grassland, but they exist all year as vast networks of threads (mycelium) under the ground and within plants.

After an illustrated talk to learn more about what fungi are and how they affect our lives, we will go for a walk to discover fungi in the park.

Janet Bostock will be assisted on the walk by Eleanor Lawrence and Elizabeth Cheesman who are fellow members of the West Weald Fungi Recording Group.

Not to be missed!
