For families exploring Richmond Park
What is the Discoverers programme?
Discoverers is the Friends of Richmond Park’s activities programme for families with school age children. Events take place on a number of weekends throughout the year. Most Discoverers events are free, and open to non-FRP members.

'BAG IT, BIN IT, TAKE IT HOME!'
Calling all school–age artists!
Could you design a poster to encourage visitors not to litter Richmond Park, and to take their rubbish home with them if they can?
Richmond Park is more popular than ever these days but popularity brings problems! Like the amount of litter some visitors leave behind.
The Royal Parks employ people to empty the bins regularly.
There are also many volunteers who pick up litter – You may have seen them around
Litter is a real danger to the Park’s wildlife, as can be seen in the picture of the deer eating plastic. It is also horrible to see!
Your poster could be reproduced, and displayed on Park notice boards!
We will also put as many as we can on the FRP website and use them in anti-litter publicity.
Remember - a picture can often speak louder than words!

Other things you can do in lockdown
Get out and about safely, and keep and eye on what is happening in the Natural World.
For example, you may come across a hibernating butterfly, like this Small Tortoiseshell, in the house or a shed. If you think it’s in a safe place, you can should leave it where it is. Here’s some good advice from Butterfly Conservation:
AND REMEMBER – WHEN IN THE PARK
Keep a safe distance from other people at all times
