The Wild London Diamond Jubilee event to be held in the Park on 15 May will feature a wide range of activities in zones covering volunteering, conservation, education, recreation, therapy and inspiration.

Her Majesty the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Alexandra are set to visit the Park during the course of the day.

The Friends will be well represented, and we hope as many members as possible will turn out to welcome the Royal party and to visit the displays and events that we have organised, including:

  • Stand 35 in the Conservation Zone – showcasing the Jubilee Pond and the Ponds & Streams appeal as well as Tread Lightly, the new Posters in the Park competition and the Discoverers programme
  • Displays on history, the background of the Friends and Poems in the Park in the Inspiration Zone

The event will be open to the public from 10.30am and close at 5.30pm. At 12 noon actors from LAMDA will recite selected poems from Poems in the Park in the VIllage Green 'Talks & Demonstrations' area. At 1pm Sir David Attenborough will inaugurate the Jubilee Pond and launch the Ponds & Stream Conservation Programme appeal. The poetry recital will be staged again at 3pm.

Over 50 Friends have volunteered to help out in various capacities from stewarding to supplying information to selling books.
