Children from 2 to 12 years old came to our first ever Discoverers Arts and Craft event held in partnership with Pembroke Lodge Hearsum Collection and we had a fabulous time.

The scene was set with our artist Sam ready at the tables for charcoal 3-D drawing of animals, or for watercolour painting of trees.  There was also a collage table, where stamps and scrap paper were ready to make a card with Carol’s help.  Gina, the Willow Weaver, was outside teaching children how to make butterflies and dragonflies, so ably assisted by Belinda.  Brian and Monique were at hand to help with anything and replenish the stocks of paper or provide clean water for the paint brushes.  Chidlren took inspiration from some of the items from the Hearsum Collection and Sue, Curator of the Collection was also at hand for information.  All this took place in the Belvedere at Pembroke Lodge, thanks to the generosity and well practised organisational skills of Louise and Jane Hearsum and their team.

It was such a pleasure to see children take time to create the most beautiful artwork, each within his or her own ability, no competition, no rush, just enjoying being creative.
