It was so nice to see so many Discoverers make the most of a rainy February Half-Term day and come out to The Belvedere for our Discoverers event. We had three activities on offer for them:

  1. Prepare a Nature Diary, ready to use as Spring is arriving. Discoverers displayed their usual love for wildlife mixed their artistic flair with beautiful results to match.
  2. We had a go at classifying a whole array of living things from our display table: fruits, vegetables, worm, fish, sea shells, algae, moss, flowers…there was a lot there! How do scientists classify living organisms? Why does it matter? and Why do we have to use all these Latin names?!!
  3. Since it is not just living organisms that can be classified but also extinct ones, Tristan a Junior Discoverer who has attended our sessions for the longest time, brought his own collection of fossils and explained to younger Discoverers what it was all about. Sharks’ teeth were very popular but he knew that already! Here are a few photos for you to see what we got up to.
