The stunning October photo of a bellowing stag in the Richmond Park 2016 calendar has been awarded the prestigious Nikon Photo of the Month. It was donated by talented local photographer Ian Skelton, who is passionate about the Park and its wildlife.
The calendar is produced by the Friends of Richmond Park, sponsored by Russell-Cooke Solicitors, and all profits go to help conservation projects in the Park.
Ian Skelton tells us: ”We are incredibly fortunate to have the exciting, precious resource that is Richmond Park on our doorstep. I am happiest spending hours with my camera quietly observing the enormous range of beautiful and bio diverse creatures there, which are rare to find in a city like London. By sharing my photographs I can help show people the wonders of our local National Nature Reserve, and hopefully inspire them to share my passion for protecting it for future generations”.
Two other featured photographers have been nominated for wildlife Photographer of the Year 2015, and the 2016 calendar has selections from no fewer than four teenage photographers. As they are the future generation who will benefit from the conservation of Richmond Park it is fabulous that they have engaged with us in this project.
