London’s quietest darkest place  – a new short film

Today the Friends of Richmond Park has released a short film celebrating the unique beauty and tranquillity of Richmond Park, the quietest, darkest place in London.

Protecting Richmond Park’s wildlife from the effects of urbanisation – increasing noise, air and light pollution is vital to their survival.

The unspoilt natural environment and tranquility of the Park is of great benefit to people’s mental health and wellbeing.  This was demonstrated most recently during the pandemic when there was a large increase in visitors appreciating its tranquillity at a time of great stress.

“The Friends of Richmond Park created this short film of Richmond Park at dawn so that the Park’s rare beauty and tranquillity can be appreciated. Our aim is to preserve its unique character today and for the future,” said the Friends’ Chair, Roger Hillyer.
