Friends of Richmond Park

The Friends of Richmond Park

Welcome to frp.org.uk

The Friends of Richmond Park are a voluntary group dedicated to protecting Richmond Park as a place of natural beauty and public pleasure. We:

- organise walks and events
- publish a regular newsletter on the Park
- actively work to preserve the wildlife, beauty
and tranquillity of this unique space.

Enclosed in 1637 by Charles I as a royal deer hunting park, today Richmond Park is a unique environment within a vast urban area. It is home to hundreds of ancient oaks, several threatened bird species, as well as rare beetles, moths and fungi. It contains the largest area of lowland acid grassland in Greater London and is a National Nature Reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
